Here are some top picks for Sacramentans to ring in the new year.
  • Best Family Friendly New Year's Eve celebration is at Old Sacramento. There will be fireworks, food vendors, street performers, the Disney Frequency Dancers, and other family and children activities in the Waterfront Park tent. The fireworks display at 9 p.m. will be synchronized to children's music. Event is free.

  • The Hilton Hotel party is touted to be the "biggest and most elegant" party in town. Sold out the last nine years, the party is expected to fill with thousands of party-goers.

  • If partying in a hotel isn't your thing, then the next alternative are area bars and venues. The Park Ultra Lounge will feature 'Times Square' confetti cannons and VIP booths, R&B's Jon B. headlines the Avalon celebration, 107.9's Alecia B. hosts the Empire party, while the Stoney Inn Bar & Grill will be a haven for party-goers wanting to ring in the new year country style.
More local celebrations in are found in the Sacramento New Year's Eve 2008 Parties roundup.
