Big Fix Project Update: Opening of Southbound Lanes Pushed Back

Tuesday July 15, 2008

According to the California Department of Transportation, the third stage of the Big Fix will not begin as previously reported on July 15. Instead, the southbound lanes will reopen on Thursday, July 17 at 1 p.m.

The extremely hot weather in Sacramento last week caused work crews to shorten the time they could to pour the final driving surface - a polyester-based concrete - on the southbound lanes.

The third stage delay will cause the fourth stage to begin at a later date - Friday, July 18 at 8 p.m. In this final stage, the northbound lanes will be shut down until Monday, July 28 at 5 a.m.

Make sure to print out the new closure calendar (PDF) at the FixI-5.com Web site.
