Sacramento Gold Rush Days

When Labor Day comes around, as hundreds of pounds of dirt is dumped on the paved the streets in Old Sacramento transform to harken the days of 1800s during its annual Gold Rush Days.

The four-day event features costumed folks re-enact scenes from the Gold Rush, from panning for gold to gun shootouts to other era experiences. Horse-drawn carriages will travel along the streets, while the kiddies can enjoy wagon and pony rides.

The event will feature musicians and dancers from the era, including many different ethnic groups, as well as lectures, storytelling and crafting.

Dates: Labor Day Weekend. For 2008, the 9th Annual Sacramento Gold Rush Days are August 29 to September 1, 2008.
