Here are some listings to celebrate Pride Week in Sacramento.
Friday, June 13: 2nd Annual Sacramento Dyke March
Time: 6 p.m.
Where: The march begins and ends at the State Capitol West Steps.
There will be a brief kick-off rally before the march. The mistress of ceremonies is Ali Bay of Equity California. Entertainment includes vocalist Cooper Ray and the True Colors Women’s Chorus. The list of scheduled speakers include Gretchen Bender, the first lebian elected official in Sacramento, Sacramento Gay & Lesbian Center President Emeritus Marghe Covino and marriage equality activists Shelly Bailes and Ellen Pontac.
Saturday, June 14: Pride 2nd Saturday at the Center
Time: 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: 1927 L St., Sac.
Tuesday, June 17: Rainbow Chamber of Commerce Special Pride Mixer
Time: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Badlands, 2003 K St., Sac.
TJ Bruce will provide music and refreshments.
Wednesday, June 18: Zocalo Proud Of It! Mixer
Time: 6 p.m.
Where: Zocalo, 1801 Capitol Ave., Sac.
Leo Suarez hosts this event which also features The Men of Zocalo, drink specials and prizes.
Thursday, June 19: Welcome reception, Pride Parade International Grand Marshal and Volunteer Thank You Party
Time: 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Where: 1927 L St., Sac.
Russian LGBT activist Nikolai Alexeyev will serve as the International Grand Marshall for this year’s parade. He has been arrested and imprisoned for participating in the 2006 and 2007 gay celebrations in Moscow, eventhough these events are legal under Russian law. Chipotle provides a buffet meal.
Friday, June 20: Pride sponsor thank you party, Sacramento Kings of Drag Annual Pride Performance
Time: 8:30 p.m.
Where: Clunie Hall, McKinley Park, Sac.
Cost: $20 advance, $25 door. Buy tickets online.
Proceeds from this event will benefit the Lambda Players and Lavender Library.
Saturday, June 21: Pride Parade and Festival.
Time: Parade starts at 10 a.m. on N and 13th streets. Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: Southside Park, 6th and U streets
Cost: $10 admission for festival.
There will be entertainment, sporting events, food and a beer garden, as well as designated kids area and vendor booths.Entertainment includes the Sacramento Men’s Chorus, True Colors Women’s Chorus, Grove Thing, Cheer Sacramento and San Francisco, comedian Margaret France and spoken word. There will also be an art show and sale. There will be after parties at Bandlands, FACES, Mercantile and The Bolt. The festival features mistress of ceremonies Empress Precious Cargo and the members of the Court of the Great Northwest Imperial Empire.
Sunday, June 22: LGBT Day at Raging Waters
Time: Park hours are 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: Raging Waters, 1600 Exposition Blvd., Sac.
