The California State Railroad Museum is one of the most expansive museums in Old Sacramento. About half a million people visit the 100,000-square-foot, well regarded museum of its kind in North America. Rail enthusiasts can enjoy lavishly restored trains, while newcomers can learn how railroads influenced and changed American lives and the countrys economy. From April through September, the museum operates a six-mile, 40-minute ride on a steam-powered train.
The museum is located on 1119 2nd Street. For more information, call (916) 445-6645.
