Next door to the California State Railroad Museum is the family-friendly Discovery Museum. There are interactive exhibits allowing visitors to explore history, science, space and technology. The Gold Gallery provides a closer look at California’s Gold Rush with a simulated mine shaft and miner’s cabin. Visitors can learn how newspapers are published in the McClatchy Gallery. One cannot miss the breathtaking view from atop the glass floor exhibit highlighting five historic Sacramento districts.

The Discovery Museum is located on 101 I Street. For more information, call (916) 264-7057.
