Like many, well-intentioned people, they start every year to resolve to get healthy and lose weight. However, by the end of January – for some by the end of the first week – their New Year’s resolution has been broken.
And if you are not fond of working out on a treadmill or stationary bike, then your goal to get healthy in 2008 can be doomed.
Luckily, in Sacramento, there are facilities that can spice up a humdrum workout. Here are three picks of Sacramento gym alternatives.
1. Prime Time Boxing
Getting a workout at Prime Time Boxing is a great way to get healthy. Prime Time Boxing runs four-week boxing camps where members are taught the fundamentals of boxing, such as jump rope, speed bags, conditioning drills, and mitt work with trainers (two per session). Camp sessions are three days a week and there are about five or so sessions during the day, as early as 6 a.m. or as late at 7 p.m. If you want an engaging and challenging work out where you won’t get bored, try Prime Time Boxing.

2. 1-2-3 Fit
For those not willing to venture out too much from the familiar can try 1-2-3 Fit which uses resistance cords instead of weights on their machines. OK, so how is this different? Well, unlike other weight machines, 1-2-3 Fit uses a system that adds resistance to your workout. Unlike weights, adding the resistance will not only tone your muscles, but add a cardio workout at the same time. How’s that for fitness multitasking?
