Democrat Hillary Clinton, with nearly 100% of the precincts reporting, has won the state of California with 52% or 2,107,758 of the votes. She edged out Barack Obama who garnered 42.4% or 1,717,681 votes.
For the Republicans, John McCain came in first with 42% or 975,363 votes, followed by Mitt Romney with 34.1% or 790,515 votes and Mike Huckabee with 11.6% or 268,622 votes.
Sacramento County however voted in favor of Obama by 48% or 71,271 votes versus Clinton’s 46.3% or 68,675 showing. Meanwhile, Sacramento County voted inline with the state when it came the Republican party: McCain received 40.2% or 35,019; Romney with 37.9% or 33,010; and Huckabee with 11% or 9,533 votes.
Don J. Grundman wins the top spot for the American Independent party with 36.6% or 14,168 votes.
Ralph Nader tops both the Green (62.1% or 17.065) and the Peace and Freedom (40.4% or 2,144) parties.
The Libertarian party's top candidate Christine Smith wins with 25.1% or 3,529 votes.
All of the Indian gaming propositions - 94, 95, 96, and 97 - passed with 55% of the vote or more. While propositions 91 (Transportation Funds), 92 (Community Colleges), and 93 (Legislator Term Limits) were shot down.
