Kings History:
In 1983, a group of Sacramento businessmen purchased the Kansas City Kings for $10.5 million. In 1985, the NBA Board of Governors granted the petition to move the Kings to Sacramento. October 25, 1985, the first game of the 1985-86 NBA season, marked the beginning of the Kings reign in Sacramento.
