Valentine’s Day is obviously a time for romance, but whether or not you have a special someone in your life, this year’s lineup of special events is perfect for everybody. From romantic dinners on the river to family-friendly entertainment, Valentine’s Day in Sacramento is sure to be memorable.
February 8, 6pm-11pm – Sekou’s BBQ, Sacramento
Come on out to Sekou’s BBQ in Sacramento on February 8th for a special date night event put on by T-Mo Entertainment. The evening includes jazz music, dancing, dinner and even games. Running all evening, cost is $40 in advance or $50 at the door (per couple).
February 9, 7am-11am – Sacramento
Get fit the weekend of Valentine’s Day with runs appropriate for all ages and ability levels. Little ones can participate in a kids race while everyone else enjoys the choice between a 1.8 or 4-mile walk/run. A Valentine’s Day costume contest also happens during the race, including a canine category. Proceeds benefit Legal Services of California.
February 14, 7pm – Freefall Stage, Folsom
Freefall Stage in Folsom presents this special evening of “sweet” entertainment with a performance of An Ideal Husband onstage with plenty of dessert and sparkling cider for the audience. Cost is $20 per person, and reservations are highly recommended.
February 14, 6pm-8:30pm - Sacramento Natural Foods Co-Op, Sacramento
This cooking class won’t be very stressful as you enjoy smoked salmon mousse with cucumber canapés as an appetizer. Watch an accomplished chef cook the rest of your delicious Sacramento Valentine’s Day feast, including cauliflower soup, pork tenderloin, various gourmet sides and chocolate mousse for dessert.
February 14, 3:30pm – North Natomas Library, Sacramento
Teens and adults are invited to come decorate cookies at the North Natomas library before heading off to evening plans. This event is free and a great way to connect with all the activities planned for the North Natomas Sacramento library branch in 2013.
February 10 – Vacaville High School, Vacaville
Not the romantic type? Cheer on local up and coming athletes at the Valentine’s Day Massacre hosted by Vacaville High School. Various wrestling teams from the Sacramento Area Wrestling Association will be competing.
February 9, 12pm – Midtown Village Café, Sacramento
A Sacramento Valentine’s Day wouldn’t be complete without some sweet satisfaction, which is exactly what you’ll get on this Midtown walking tour hosted by historian William Burg. Start at the Midtown Village Café and journey on through Rick’s Dessert Dinner, Trey B Cakes and Devine Gelataria. Skip dinner on February 9th to clear room for all of these amazing desserts from Sacramento’s best sugar artisans. Cost is $30 per person.
February 10, 9am-4pm – Sacramento Zoo
Bring your valentine – young or old – to a special I Heart Sacramento Zoo day put on by the zoo’s teen volunteer brigade. Activities include holiday-themed animal enrichments, special educational talks and activity tables. Best of all, there is no additional cost to join in the these heartfelt festivities – a regular zoo ticket will allow you to enjoy it all.
February 14, 4pm – North Sac-Hagginwood Library
Another great Sacramento Valentine’s Day pick found at a local library is the giant Candyland game set up at the North Sacramento-Hagginwood library. This live-action version of the classic children’s game involves plenty of physical activity for all ages, as well as Valentine’s Day treats for all participants.
